Jamshedpur, Feb 14: In a remarkable development, a tiger has been spotted in Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary, confirming its presence in Kolhan for the first time. The tiger was captured on a trap camera, marking a significant milestone in wildlife monitoring efforts.

Previously, only paw prints were detected, but now, a clear image has validated the tiger’s presence. Wildlife experts consider this a positive sign, indicating that Dalma’s habitat is favourable for the big cat.

The Forest Department, led by DFO Saba Alam Ansari, has been actively tracking the tiger since its first reported sighting on December 31. According to officials, the tiger traveled from Chhattisgarh to Palamu Tiger Reserve, then passed through Gumla, Chandil, Ghatshila and Purulia, before returning to Dalma via Jhargram and Bankura.

To monitor its movements, the Forest Department has installed over 40 cameras in Dalma and surrounding areas. The authorities remain on high alert and are closely observing the tiger, which is currently roaming in the core area of Dalma.

“The tiger has once again entered Dalma. We are continuously monitoring its movements to ensure both wildlife conservation and human safety,” said DFO Saba Alam Ansari.
