Potka, Feb 14:: A case of suspicious death has emerged from Dabanki village under Potka police station, where 17-year-old Dhani Mardi, a student of Jamshedpur Women’s University Bistupur, was found hanging in her house. Following the incident, her maternal uncle, Sundar Mahali, lodged a complaint at Potka police station, accusing her paternal uncle Budhu Mahali (alias Sitaram Mardi), aunt Pano Mahali and their sons Kishan Mardi and Anil Mardi of murder.
According to Sundar Mahali, Dhani lost her father five years ago and her mother passed away five months ago, leaving her orphaned. She lived under the care of her uncle and aunt, who allegedly harassed and threatened her, particularly after her maternal relatives ensured her college admission. Sundar Mahali suspects that Dhani was murdered and then hanged to make it look like suicide.
The police have taken the body into custody and sent it to MGM Jamshedpur for postmortem. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
