Ranchi, April 5: Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren has directed for ban on bike rallies and ordered for strict compliance with DJ’s regulation and stepping up of vigilance through drone and CCTVs for maintaining law and order during Ramnavami processions.
At a meeting held in his residential office in Ranchi and attended by senior administrative and police officials including chief secretary Alka Tiwari and DGP Anurag Gupta and DCs and SSP-SPs of all districts through video conferencing Hemant Soren ordered a complete ban on bike rallies during Ram Navami processions, calling it a recent trend that poses risks to both the public and event organisers.
“Ensuring public safety is the government’s top priority,” Soren said. “Bike rallies have been a source of concern and must be strictly prohibited this year.”
Hemant Soren directed to take strict action against the elements spreading rumors or chaos during Ram Navami and directed to keep an eye on such elements with CCTV cameras and drones. He has said that special vigil should be kept at sensitive places.
The use of CCTV cameras and drones will be stepped up to ensure real-time tracking of processions. Physical verification and close coordination with peace committees will also form a key part of the monitoring strategy.
Officials were also advised to ensure that no provocative or objectionable music is played during processions and that necessary steps, including switching off the music system, be taken if tensions rise.
He also said that a copy of the order passed by the High Court regarding playing DJs should be made available to licensed and unlicensed Akhada committees.
He has said that the Akhada committees should be informed about the action to be taken against those who do not comply with the High Court order, so that the rules are not violated.
Soren also underlined the importance of upholding traditional practices during Ram Navami. He instructed officials to stay informed about long-established routes and rituals of the processions and ensure that these are carried out without disruption. However, he was clear that any new form of event or march that threatens law and order should be immediately stopped.
The Chief Minister also said that it should be ensured that under no circumstances a situation of conflict or tension arises between the communities and a strict watch should be kept on the terrorists.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to take strict action against individuals or groups spreading rumours or creating unrest. He urged authorities to work closely with peace committees and to use public communication to spread positive, reassuring messages. The goal, he said, is to foster mutual respect, love, and brotherhood among communities during the festival.
