Jamshedpur: In a proactive step to ensure communal harmony and public order during the Ram Navami immersion procession, the East Singhbhum district administration has initiated a dialogue with religious leaders from the Muslim community. Following the directive of Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, a coordination meeting was held on Friday at the Collectorate, chaired by ADM (Law and Order) Aniket Sachan.
The meeting was attended by Pesh-e-Imams, Presidents, and General Secretaries of local mosques, and was aimed at reinforcing peace and mutual respect during the upcoming religious festivities. The ADM urged religious leaders to use their platforms, especially during Namaz, to promote messages of harmony, sensitivity, and cooperation among people of all age groups.
“Your words hold great influence in the community. We request you to encourage peaceful conduct and understanding, especially during Ram Navami. Our collective aim is to ensure that the festival is celebrated with mutual respect and in an atmosphere free of tension,” said ADM Sachan during the meeting.
The administration specifically appealed to prevent loitering near religious sites during the immersion procession. Addressing the youth, the ADM urged them to avoid any provocative behavior or actions such as bike stunts, warning that strict legal action would be taken against any mischief-makers. He also encouraged mosque committees to help in identifying such individuals and counsel them beforehand.
He further added that the administration is keeping a close eye on potential troublemakers, irrespective of religion or community, and called upon the religious leaders to help identify unwanted elements who could disrupt the peace.
In response, the Pesh-e-Imams and mosque committee representatives assured the administration of full cooperation. They pledged to assist in spreading messages of peace and committed to taking all necessary steps to maintain order. They also put forth suggestions such as increased police deployment and barricading at sensitive locations, to which the administration responded positively, assuring prompt action.
The meeting concluded on a note of solidarity, with both administration and religious leaders emphasizing the shared responsibility of maintaining peace and respecting the sentiments of every community.
