Jamshedpur: In preparation for Ram Navami celebrations, the East Singhbhum district administration has announced a series of strict traffic restrictions to ensure public safety and smooth vehicular movement across Jamshedpur. A joint order has been issued by Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, Senior Superintendent of Police Kishore Kaushal, and the Traffic DSP detailing the traffic control measures to be implemented over two days.
On April 6, the movement of all heavy vehicles will be completely restricted in two phases—from 6:00 AM to 11:30 AM and again from 1:00 PM to 11:00 PM. However, passenger buses will be allowed during these hours to facilitate public transportation. The restrictions will be tightened on April 7, when a complete ban on goods carriers, four-wheelers, buses, and heavy vehicles will come into effect from 1:00 PM on April 7 until 6:00 AM on April 8.
In addition, three-wheelers including auto-rickshaws will not be permitted to operate between 2:00 PM and 10:00 PM on April 7 in several high-traffic zones and procession-prone areas such as Golmuri Chowk, RD Tata Roundabout, Sagar Hotel, No. 9 Taxi Stand, Basant Talkies, Mini Bus Stand, Sakchi Roundabout, Bengal Club, Kitab Line, Old Court Turn, and Swarnarekha Ghat Road.
The administration has urged citizens to cooperate with the restrictions, plan their travel accordingly, and avoid non-essential travel during the restricted hours. Authorities emphasized that the measures are necessary to manage large crowds, facilitate smooth religious processions, and ensure the safety of all participants and residents during the festival.
