Jamshedpur: Birsa Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna awareness vehicle flagged off

Jamshedpur, August 22: Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal launched the Birsa Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna by flagging of an awareness campaign vehicle which will visit block and panchayat areas of both subdivisions to inform farmers about the scheme’s objectives and benefits. ITDA Project Director Dipankar Chowdhury and District Cooperative Officer Asha Toppo were present on the occasion.

The Birsa Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna for Kharif 2024 aimed to economically empower farmers. Applications are to be submitted by August 31 to avail of the benefits.

The District Cooperative Officer highlighted that compensation had been set at Rs 87,087 per hectare for Aghanai paddy and Rs 72,023 per hectare for Bhadai corn. Farmers can access the scheme’s benefits by paying a token amount of one rupee, with no additional premium required for insurance.

To apply for crop insurance, farmers needed to submit documents including their Aadhaar card, a photocopy of their bank passbook, land ownership-related forms, a notarized sharecropping certificate (if applicable), a self-attested crop sowing certificate, and a mobile number. For more information, farmers could contact the District Cooperative Office, the nearest block office, or the helpline number 14447.
