Tourism Information Centre to boost Jamshedpur’s tourism sector

Jamshedpur, July 15: The Jharkhand Government’s Tourism Department is set to revitalize the tourism sector in Jamshedpur, known as the Iron City, with the imminent opening of a Tourism Information Centre. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to develop tourist destinations across the state through the Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation, utilizing a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

Under this new module, private agencies will be entrusted with the responsibility of renovating, operating, and maintaining identified tourist destinations before eventually handing them back to the department. This approach aims to leverage private sector expertise and resources to enhance the state’s tourism infrastructure and services.

The Tourism Information Centre in Jamshedpur will serve as a one-stop hub for information about major tourist attractions in the district. This revival comes after the closure of a similar centre in Bistupur years ago due to governmental neglect. The new centre is expected to play a crucial role in promoting local tourism and improving visitor experiences.

In addition to the information canter, the first phase of this initiative will also focus on developing a tourist destination in Baharagora. The director of the Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation has already communicated with the district’s Deputy Commissioner regarding these plans. If all proceeds as expected, both the establishment of the Tourism Information Centre in Jamshedpur and the development work in Baharagora are anticipated to commence within the next two to three months.
