Jamshedpur, June 26 : Jamshedpur observed Yaum-e-Ashura on Friday with deep reverence, mourning and devotion as members of the Muslim community paid tribute to Hazrat Imam Hussain and the martyrs of Karbala.
Tazia and traditional Akhara processions passed peacefully through different parts of the city along designated routes, drawing large participation from devotees.

The processions reflected the spirit of Muharram, with youths showcasing traditional martial arts, including lathi and sword displays.

Volunteers set up sabeels across the city, distributing sherbet and drinking water to participants and passersby. Devotees remembered the sacrifice of Karbala as an enduring symbol of justice, truth and humanity.

The district administration and police had made extensive security arrangements well in advance. Adequate deployment of police personnel, magistrates and traffic officials, along with CCTV surveillance, barricading and traffic diversions, ensured the smooth conduct of the observance. Authorities had also held meetings with peace committees and Akhara organisers while urging citizens to refrain from spreading rumours on social media.

By evening, all major Tazia and Akhara processions concluded peacefully without any untoward incident.
The administration thanked Akhara committees, social organisations and residents for their cooperation, stating that Jamshedpur had once again set an example of communal harmony, brotherhood and its enduring Ganga-Jamuni culture.
