Jamshedpur, Oct 19: The Surya Mandir complex in Sidhgora was beautifully illuminated on the eve of Diwali, celebrating the festival of lights with devotion and grandeur. Mandir was decorated with colorful lights, and the temple committee lit 11,000 clay lamps in the Shri Ram Temple courtyard and across the temple complex.

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and Chief Patron of the mandir committee, Raghubar Das, was the chief guest at the event. He, along with Patron Chandragupta Singh, President Bhupendra Singh, and other committee members, participated in the lighting of lamps.

Raghubar Das inaugurated the ceremony by lighting the first lamp, after which a beautiful row of lamps spread throughout the temple premises. Devotees and temple members joined in chanting “Jai Shri Ram” while women decorated the lamps with intricate rangoli designs. The celebrations were further enlivened with spectacular fireworks, adding to the festive spirit.

Speaking on the occasion, Raghubar Das extended his warm Diwali and Chhath Puja greetings to the people of Jamshedpur and Jharkhand. He recalled how Lord Shri Ram was welcomed with garlands of lamps upon his return to Ayodhya in the Treta Yuga, drawing a parallel with the current celebration at the Ram Temple, designed on the lines of Shri Ayodhya Dham.
Raghubar Das also encouraged citizens to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Vocal for Local” initiative by using locally made products, including earthen lamps crafted by potters, and making Diwali meaningful for the less fortunate. The event reflected a vibrant mix of devotion, cultural pride, and community spirit, with the temple complex glowing in a spectacular display of lights and joy.
