East Singhbhum dominates Jharkhand Senior Swimming Championship in Jamshedpur

Richa Sahu and Dipanshu Singh Named Best Swimmers

Jamshedpur, June 1: The 15th Jharkhand State Senior Swimming Championship concluded on Monday at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur. The championship was organized by the East Singhbhum District Swimming Association and witnessed impressive performances from swimmers across the state.

Hosts East Singhbhum dominated the competition, winning both the men’s and women’s team championships. In the men’s category, the East Singhbhum team secured the top position with 184 points, while Ranchi finished runners-up with 63 points. In the women’s section, East Singhbhum once again emerged champions with 123 points, followed by Ranchi with 48 points.

Dipanshu Singh of Jamshedpur was declared the best swimmer in the men’s category after collecting 35 points during the championship. In the women’s category, Richa Sahu earned the best swimmer title with 28 points.

Officials said the performances in the championship will be considered for the selection of the Jharkhand team for the upcoming Senior National Swimming Championship. The national event is scheduled to begin in Ahmedabad from June 18.

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Varun Bajaj, Chief of Corporate Services at Tata Steel, as the chief guest. Other dignitaries present included Mukul Vinayak Choudhari, Chief Sports, Tata Steel, Jharkhand Swimming Association president Barkha Sinha, secretary Upendra Tiwari, Shailendra Tiwari, K. Prabhakar Rao, former international swimmer Rambalak Singh, and Firoz Khan.
