Jamshedpur, Oct 19: A tragic incident has shocked the residents of Dev Nagar, Janata Market area under Govindpur police station area , where a 13-year-old girl, identified as Shreya Raj, a Class VII student of Vidya Bharti Chinmaya Vidyalaya, allegedly ended her life by consuming a poisonous substance.
According to reports, the incident took place on October 17, following a Parent-Teacher ( PT) meeting held at the school.
During the session, one of the teachers reportedly discussed Shreya’s alleged indiscipline and mischievous behavior in front of her parents.
Deeply Distressed After the meeting sources said Shreya appeared extremely upset after returning home.
While her mother was visiting a neighbor’s house, the girl is believed to have consumed poison kept in the house.
Within a short time, her health began to deteriorate rapidly.
Her family members immediately rushed her to Tata Motors Hospital, where she was admitted in critical condition.
Despite the doctors’ efforts, Shreya passed away on October 18 during treatment.
The hospital authorities informed the Govindpur police, who initiated an investigation and sent the body for post-mortem.
The autopsy was conducted on October 19, after which the body was handed over to the family.
Police are now investigating all aspects of the sensitive case to determine what exactly transpired at school and what drove the young girl to take such an extreme step.
