Jamshedpur: Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has written to Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari demanding a validity period of five years for pollution under control (PUC) certificate of Bharat Stage VI vehicles.
SCCI president Vijay Anand Moonka said the automobile manufacturers had calibrated their designing instruments for the production of BS VI vehicles. “BS VI vehicles are 50 per cent less polluting as compared to BS IV vehicles. This is true for both petrol and diesel variants. This is why the PUC for BS VI vehicles should be given a validity of five years. It will come as a relief for the vehicle users. We hope that the Ministry of Road Transport would take up this subject and take necessary action,” he said.
