Giridih (IANS): A man allegedly hacked his three minor daughters to death with a sharp-edged weapon in Jharkhand’s Giridih district on Monday morning, police officials said. Police arrested the accused immediately after the incident.
The incident took place in Turukdih village under the Mufassil police station limits of Giridih. Police identified the deceased as Pallavi Yadav (14) and her six-year-old twin sisters, Riddhi Yadav and Siddhi Yadav.
According to the police, the accused, Nandu Yadav, suddenly turned violent in the morning and attacked his daughters inside the house with a sharp weapon, inflicting multiple blows. All three girls died on the spot.
Family members rushed to the scene when they heard the children’s cries, but the attacker continued the assault. Local residents said that the accused’s wife and son escaped unhurt by moving to another part of the house during the incident.
Upon receiving the information, Mufassil police station in-charge Shyam Kishore Mahto and Sadar SDPO Jitwahan Oraon rushed to the village with a police team. They immediately took the accused into custody, rescuing him from the angry local residents.
Sadar SDPO Jitwahan Oraon stated that authorities are investigating the case with due sensitivity. Investigators have yet to ascertain the motive behind the killings. The police have also called in a forensic team to collect scientific evidence.
Police officials noted that further details about the circumstances of the crime will emerge following the post-mortem report and detailed interrogation of the accused.
