Jamshdpur: India is a country which is set on the backdrop of religious equality and cultural values. Its Secularism is its strength and has a unanimous voice of Sanitation. Improper disposal of waste not only creates an unhealthy environment but in some cases also contributes to global warming.
Government of India has taken it very seriously and has taken major steps to prevent the impending disaster. “Swachta Abhiyan” is one of the major steps taken by the government in the field of sanitation. It’s not only our responsibility but also our need for the time when our existence is at stake.
Relearn Foundation (RELF) an NGO trust has emerged as a remarkable organization in taking initiatives for socio-technological solutions in the areas of education, environment and empowerment. In order to create awareness about Sanitation and to maintain proper hygiene, Relearn Foundation in collaboration with local administration, schools (government as well as non government) and local non-profit organizations will organize awareness campaign “Swachta hi kevalam (Cleanliness Only)” in various schools of Jamshedpur and Ranchi during July 1-15,2018.
The main objective of awareness campaign is to create awareness about sanitation; school students should have clear understanding about it and what action they should take to maintain proper sanitation in schools, in the communities and at homes and also pay attention to their personal hygiene. Through this awareness campaign in various schools of Jamshedpur/Ranchi, RELF will organize activities, make and share videos, Swachh sapath at schools, presentation of skits (nukkad natak), deliver lectures, organize group activities, carry out surveys, demonstration of technologies for maintaining proper sanitation and efficient management of waste, etc. The areas of focus will be (i) know your waste (KYW) (ii) Know your toilets (KYT) (iii) Waste to wealth (W2W).
The events will be organized in such a way so that senior school students can deliver this program regularly in schools. RELF super trainers will train the master trainers (students of STD IX and STD XI of the same school) and demonstrate how the awareness program has to be conducted in three parallel sessions.
The master trainers with the help of super trainers will conduct the awareness campaign for students of STD III to STD VIII in small groups. Various kinds of fun filled activities will be conducted so that the concept of sanitation is ingrained in the minds of students.
