Jamshedpur, July 11: The Jansankhya Samadhan Foundation, an organization working for population control, has sent a demand letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi through the Deputy Commissioner on Tuesday, asking him to implement the Population Control Act in the country by September 23 this year. The organization has also attached its suggestions and public support for the proposed law.

The Foundation President Sumit Srivastava said that the country’s economy was getting affected due to the increasing population and there was an urgent need to stop the population explosion. He said that the organization had been raising this issue for the last 9 years through various means, such as dharnas, demonstrations, agitations and demand letters, but the central government had not taken any decision so far.

Sumit Srivastava said that the organization had prepared a long list of demands and had received support from many MPs who wanted the law to be passed this year. He said that the organization would stage a peaceful protest at a temporary camp near the Delhi-Ghaziabad border on September 22, 2023, and wait for the PMO’s call. He said that after getting the permission, a delegation would meet the Prime Minister and hand over the demand letter.

He also said that the government was planning to bring the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) as part of one country one law and it would be in the interest of the country to pass the population control law in this session itself. (w/nm)
