One-sided love affair: Three arrested for murder in Seraikela

Seraikela, May 17: The Seraikela police have arrested three individuals in connection with the murder of 42-year-old Raju Lohar, a resident of Podadih Geetakuti in Dalbhanga OP under the jurisdiction of Kuchai police station. The accused, identified as Manu Munda alias Hathi, Shurumani Munda, and Sanika Pahan have been apprehended and subsequently sent to judicial custody. The police have also recovered a blood-stained stone, soil and the cloths worn during the incident as evidence.

Providing details of the case, Seraikela Sub-Divisional Police Officer Harvinder Singh explained that Shurumani, after her husband’s demise was involved in a relationship with someone else. However, she eventually left that person and started living with Sanika Pahan for a brief period. Meanwhile, Raju Lohar who worked as a blacksmith developed one-sided love for Shurumani. Enraged by Raju’s affection, Sanika along with Shurumani and another accomplice, Manu Munda decided to confront him.

On May 8, the trio brutally murdered Raju by crushing him with a stone. All three accused have admitted their involvement in the crime according to Sub-Divisional Police Officer Harvinder Singh. As a result, they have been remanded to judicial custody. The investigation into the case was carried out by a team consisting of Dalbhanga OP in-charge Sunny Toppo, ASI Vinod Kumar Majhi, Upendra Pathak, Havildar Rameshwar Purti, SAP 168 Subedar Rooplal, and Under Inspector Shravan Kumar Rai.
