Jamshedpur: The temperature in Jharkhand has begun to soar, with the maximum temperature reaching 38.9°C in Jamshedpur, East Singhbhum, making it the hottest place in the state. The minimum temperature has also risen to 15.5°C in Hazaribagh, causing people across the state to feel the heat as summer conditions begin to set in. However, relief may be on the horizon as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a drop in temperature in the coming days.
The Ranchi-based weather center has indicated that while the maximum temperature is expected to remain steady for the next three days, it could gradually drop by 2 to 3 degrees over the following two days. Similarly, the minimum temperature is likely to remain unchanged for the next two days before decreasing by 3 to 4 degrees over a span of three days.
The Hinoo-based weather center in Ranchi reported clear skies and dry weather conditions on Sunday, with no immediate signs of rain or storms.
In the past 24 hours, several districts have experienced significant temperature spikes. Baharagora (East Singhbhum) recorded the highest temperature in the state at 38.9°C. Hazaribagh recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 15.5°C. Ranchi saw a maximum temperature of 33.3°C in Hinoo and 31.2°C in Namkum, both above normal levels. Jamshedpur registered 37.3°C, which is 3.8°C above normal, while the minimum temperature was 21°C. Daltonganj recorded 35.8°C, which is 4.8°C above normal, with a minimum temperature of 17.9°C. Bokaro saw a maximum of 33.8°C, 5°C above normal, while its minimum temperature of 18.5°C was 6.2°C above normal. Chaibasa reported 37.1°C, which is 7.1°C higher than normal, with a minimum temperature of 18.2°C.
The significant deviation from normal temperature levels has raised concerns about an early summer onset. The increase in both day and night temperatures is making the weather uncomfortable for residents. Experts suggest that global climate changes and local weather patterns are contributing to this unusual temperature rise in early March.
Despite the ongoing heatwave-like conditions, meteorologists have reassured residents that temperatures will start decreasing gradually by mid-week, bringing some respite. The weather department continues to monitor any possible developments that could further influence temperature variations in the state.
