30% East Singhbhum Voters Yet to Be Mapped; Jamshedpur East Worst Performer

Jamshedpur: The ongoing exercise to map voters and rectify the electoral rolls in the East Singhbhum district seems to have hit a roadblock. According to the latest report released by the election department, out of the district’s total 1,907,192 registered voters, only 1,335,790 voters have been mapped so far. This leaves the mapping for 571,402 voters pending, which accounts for nearly 30 percent of the total electorate.

Additionally, various demographic anomalies have been detected in the data of 267,575 voters across the district, posing a significant logistical challenge for the local administration to correct before upcoming polling cycles.

A constituency-wise analysis reveals that the Jamshedpur East Assembly constituency has emerged as the worst performer regarding voter mapping. Out of its total 341,133 registered voters, only 47.41 percent (161,721 voters) have been successfully mapped, leaving 179,412 voters unmapped. Similarly, Jamshedpur West has recorded a mapping completion rate of 57.05 percent, with the mapping of 168,558 voters still pending.

In stark contrast, the Bahragora Assembly constituency has registered the best performance in the district, achieving a 93.65 percent voter mapping completion rate. Other constituencies have also shown relatively steady progress, with Ghatshila completing 85.89 percent of its mapping, followed by Potka at 77.25 percent, and Jugsalai at 72.3 percent.

When it comes to data errors in the electoral rolls, the Potka Assembly constituency leads the district with discrepancies found in the records of 59,798 voters. Jamshedpur West follows closely behind, with anomalies flagged in the data of 54,957 voters.
