Jharkhand High Court rules in favour of Raghunath faction in Jusco union poll

Jamshedpur, Oct 18:  Jharkhand High Court has given verdict regarding the selection of the authorized union Jusco Shramik Union of Tata Steel UISL (earlier JUSCO), a 100 percent subsidiary of Tata Steel.

During hearing in the Division Bench of Rajesh Kumar of Court No. 14 of Jharkhand High Court, advocate Inderjit Sinha, Ankant Vishal argued on behalf of Union president Raghuna Ghuth Pandey. While Abhijit Kumar, Deepak Kumar and other advocates argued on behalf of the petitioner Gopal Jaiswal.

During the hearing, the lawyers on behalf of the petitioner said that the election was being conducted in a wrong way. For this reason, the chosen office bearers should be re-elected under the supervision of Deputy commissioner and SP. At the same time, Raghunath Pandey legal counsel said that the whole process has been adopted correctly.

On behalf of Gopal Jaiswal, the general meeting was said to be correct, but there was a demand to conduct the election afresh and to give the right of nomination to the new people as well.

After hearing both sides the Court rejected the petition of Gopal Jaiswal and the Court decided that Jusco Shramik Union election would be conducted by Raghunath Pandey and his team and the process of fresh voting will be adopted in future has not yet been decided.

Significantly, in March 2020, a general meeting was held in the company premises for the new executive in Jusco Shramik Union. The complainant SL Das alleged that the entire process of the general meeting was not followed. The process of co-option was also not adopted. Later, Gopal Jaiswal also became active in this matter. Gopal Jaiswal also filed a petition in the Jharkhand High Court and presented his side in it, but now this petition has been dismissed.
