Dhoni’s Jharkhand gets its own Premier T20 League, Jamshedpur Steelers ready for battle

Ranchi, May 14: Cricket fever is set to reach new heights in the land of Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the inaugural Jharkhand T20 League gears up for a grand launch in the first week of June, promising to usher in a new era for cricket in the state.
The league trophy was officially unveiled on Thursday during a glittering ceremony at Radisson Blu Hotel, Ranchi, attended by some of Jharkhand’s biggest cricketing icons.
Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan, former India cricketer Saurabh Tiwary, and veteran spinner Shahbaz Nadeem came together to launch the prestigious tournament, marking a historic moment for Jharkhand cricket.

The event was also graced by JSCA President Ajay Nath Shahdeo, Vice-President Sanjay Pandey, and several distinguished members of the cricketing fraternity.
Hailed as a major platform for nurturing emerging talent, the Jharkhand T20 League is expected to provide young cricketers from across the state with an invaluable opportunity to showcase their skills and compete at a professional level.
The tournament will run for 14 days, featuring 27 thrilling matches among six franchise teams:

Ranchi Capitals
Jamshedpur Steelers
Dhanbad Coal Kings
Santhal Strikers
Kolhan Tigers
Bokaro Power House

According to organizers, approximately 20 players will be auctioned for each team, with every franchise allocated a budget of Rs 5 crore, adding significant excitement ahead of the player draft.

The league is being jointly organized by the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) and SJ Up Lift, with its regional slogan—“Ab Shuru Hoi Asli Khel, Chala Jharkhand” (Now begins the real game, let Jharkhand move forward)—already capturing public imagination.
Cricket experts believe the league could become a transformative platform for Jharkhand’s next generation of stars, strengthening the state’s legacy as a breeding ground for exceptional cricketing talent.
As anticipation builds, fans across the region are eagerly waiting to see which players will attract the biggest bids and which team will emerge as the first-ever Jharkhand T20 champion.
