Jamshedpur: IGNOU B.Ed. workshop highlights innovative teaching strategies

Jamshedpur, May 14: The third day of the IGNOU B.Ed. Workshop at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), held at Kharkai Auditorium, Jamshedpur Women’s University, witnessed enthusiastic participation and a vibrant exchange of ideas, with a strong focus on innovative teaching methodologies and ICT-enabled learning.
The day commenced on a soulful note with the collective rendition of the prayer “Itni Shakti Hamein Dena Data” under the guidance of workshop coordinator Dr. Tripura Jha, creating an atmosphere of positivity and motivation among the learner-teachers.
The first academic session was led by Dr. Manoj Kumar, who delivered an insightful lecture on the “5E Model of Lesson Planning.” He elaborated on the five key stages—Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate—highlighting how this learner-centered approach can make classroom teaching more interactive, effective, and engaging.
In the second session, Dr. Kumar addressed the topic “Integration of ICT Resources in Teaching-Learning,” emphasizing the growing importance of Information and Communication Technology in contemporary education. He discussed the effective use of smart classrooms, digital teaching tools, and e-content to enrich the learning experience and adapt to evolving educational demands.
The workshop also provided an opportunity for collaborative learning, as participants engaged in lively discussions and exchanged experiences during the lunch break.
The third session featured Dr. Suchita Bhuiya, who spoke on “Development of Audio-Visual Programmes for Teaching-Learning.” She underscored the role of audio-visual aids in enhancing classroom engagement and improving students’ understanding and retention.
Continuing into the fourth session, Dr. Bhuiya guided participants on “Development of Learning Resources,” demonstrating how effective teaching materials can be created using low-cost and locally available resources. Her session encouraged learner-teachers to adopt innovative and resourceful approaches in classroom instruction.
The day concluded with the National Anthem, marking the end of a highly enriching and inspiring programme.
