Jamshedpur’s Jugsalai Nagar Parishad secures 4th Rank in State in Swachh Survekshan

Jamshedpur: Jugsalai Nagar Parishad has brought pride to East Singhbhum district by securing the 4th position in Jharkhand under the Swachh Survekshan 2024—a national cleanliness survey conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India.

In a remarkable achievement, Jugsalai also topped the chart in the Nagar Parishad category across the state, demonstrating the effectiveness of its waste management, sanitation practices, and public participation in maintaining cleanliness.

Further solidifying its performance, Jugsalai Nagar Parishad has been awarded a 1-Star rating under the Garbage Free City (GFC) assessment, which measures the effectiveness of solid waste management and visible cleanliness in urban areas. The evaluation is based on rigorous criteria, including door-to-door waste collection, segregation at source, waste processing, and citizen engagement.

In addition, the Nagar Parishad has been declared ODF+ (Open Defecation Free Plus), recognizing the town’s sustained efforts to ensure safe and hygienic sanitation facilities for all. The ODF+ status is awarded to cities that have not only eliminated open defecation but have also maintained public toilets that are functional and well-maintained.

Municipal officials attributed this success to the dedication of sanitation workers, active involvement of residents, and continued support from the district administration. The recognition is expected to further motivate the civic body to work towards a higher Garbage Free City star rating and improved performance in future cleanliness assessments.

Local leaders and residents have hailed the achievement as a significant milestone in Jugsalai’s journey towards becoming a model town in terms of cleanliness, hygiene, and urban management.
