Mumbai (IANS): Maharashtra Police arrested Nida Khan, a primary accused in the religious conversion and harassment case involving employees at the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Nashik office. Authorities apprehended Khan on Thursday in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar after she evaded capture for several days.
The Arrest Operation
A joint team comprising the Nashik Special Investigation Team (SIT), Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Police, and the Crime Branch tracked Khan to an apartment in Kaiser Colony. Investigators utilized technical surveillance and intelligence inputs to monitor the location for 48 hours before launching the raid. Following her detention, a magistrate granted transit remand to move her to Nashik for interrogation.
Allegations and Legal Proceedings
The case centers on a complaint from a female TCS employee against her colleague, Danish Sheikh. The complainant alleges Sheikh initiated a relationship under the promise of marriage while concealing a prior marriage. Nida Khan, who is Sheikh’s sister, allegedly pressured the victim to change her faith and made offensive remarks regarding the complainant’s religion.
Khan recently sought anticipatory bail, citing her pregnancy, but the court denied interim protection. Police have now arrested seven individuals under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in connection with the investigation.
Wider Harassment Claims
As the probe expands, additional women have alleged mental and sexual harassment by senior staff at the Nashik branch between 2022 and 2026. These complainants claim the human resources department ignored their grievances.
TCS issued a statement clarifying that Nida Khan served as a process associate without leadership or recruitment responsibilities. The company further noted that its internal channels had received no formal complaints regarding these allegations prior to the police investigation.
