Jamshedpur, August 17: Jamshedpur Women’s University is set to introduce the study of Santhali and Ho languages at the graduation level, marking a significant milestone since the university’s upgrade. Vice Chancellor Prof. Anjila Gupta announced that this will be the first time these regional languages are offered at the university level in Jamshedpur. Previously, Santhali and Ho were taught only in affiliated colleges of Kolhan University, which faced limitations due to a shortage of permanent teachers. The new program at Jamshedpur Women’s University aims to benefit tribal girl students and promote local linguistic heritage. University spokesperson Sanatan Deep highlighted the initiative as part of a broader effort to offer education aligned with regional needs and enhance employment opportunities while promoting local culture.
Salary increase for vocational teachers announced
Vice Chancellor Prof. Anjila Gupta has announced a forthcoming salary increase for vocational teachers at Jamshedpur Women’s University. The decision follows the successful completion of all necessary procedures. Prof. Gupta highlighted that the university, now in its second year, has been consistently conducting regular examinations, holding its first convocation, and integrating degrees into DigiLocker. The academic bank credit system has been streamlined, and the Savitribai Phule library has been upgraded. Placement opportunities are improving, with 109 girl students recently placed at Tech Mahindra. This salary hike is expected to further bolster the university’s commitment to vocational education.
Free enrollment for Sabar girl students
Jamshedpur Women’s University has announced the free enrolment of five Sabar girl students in the History Honors program for the current academic year. The students, including Kunami Sabar, Milan Sabar, Lakshmi Sabar, Deepali Sabar, and Marsi Pahariya, will also receive hostel accommodations. The Sabar tribe, an endangered community from Jharkhand, will benefit from this initiative, reflecting the university’s commitment to supporting marginalized groups. The Vice Chancellor’s announcement underscores the university’s dedication to providing educational opportunities for tribal students and promoting inclusivity within its academic programs.
