Relief from Heat for Next Two Days
Jamshedpur: After days of intense campaigning and rising political temperatures during the municipal elections, heavy rain late Monday night brought relief to residents across the city. The sudden change in weather not only reduced humidity but also led to a noticeable drop in temperature.
Following a humid day marked by polling activity, the weather shifted around midnight. Dark clouds covered several areas, including Mango, Sakchi, Bistupur, Kadma, and Sonari, followed by lightning, strong winds, and heavy rainfall.
According to data from the India Meteorological Department, winds blew at speeds of 30 to 40 km per hour. The storm caused minor damage in some residential areas, with reports of broken window panes and items blown off rooftops.
Power Supply Disrupted
Strong winds affected the city’s power infrastructure. In Mango, Jugsalai and Adityapur, tree branches fell on electric wires, leading to power disruptions in several localities late at night.
The IMD’s Ranchi centre had issued a yellow alert for several districts, including East Singhbhum, warning of thunderstorms and gusty winds.
Temperature Likely to Drop
On Monday, Jamshedpur recorded a maximum temperature of 33.8 degrees Celsius, which was 2.1 degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature stood at 18.8 degrees Celsius. After the rainfall, temperatures are expected to fall by 3 to 4 degrees over the next two days, bringing temporary relief from the heat.
Residents had been dealing with both rising temperatures and hectic election activity in recent days. The rain provided relief after a day of strong sunshine during polling hours.
Light Rain and Thunder Likely
According to the weather bulletin, a cyclonic circulation remains active over Jharkhand. Cloud cover is expected on Tuesday, with chances of light rain and thunder.
Weather conditions are likely to clear gradually by Wednesday, though cooler mornings may persist. Partial cloud cover is expected on Thursday and Friday, with a slight rise in maximum temperature. Dry weather and sunshine are forecast for Saturday, while temperatures may rise again on Sunday.
