Jamshedpur: Traffic mismanagement leading to road jams in Mango

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur, April 19: Mango residents continue to go through the trials and tribulations of traffic jam every passing day, courtesy the non-existence of an effective traffic management system.

Due to inadequacies of the traffic policing, the citizens are compelled to negotiate their way through the impregnable and insurmountable ‘mother of all traffic jams’ every day. With the beginning of each working day, office goers, school kids and other commuters have to brave the unyielding congestion on the roads. School vans, ambulances and other utility vehicles are caught in the unending web of crawling traffic hours on end. The situation worsens right from Heera Hotel at Dimna Road and continues throughout. Mango Chowk is the centre of the traffic interlocking which devours on human hours and patience like no one. The ongoing repair work at the Mango Bridge has made the situation even tougher as one flank of the road has been blocked for servicing.

According to DSP in-charge (Traffic) Kamal Kishore, “It will take the bridge repair work 15 days to get over. The situation will return to normalcy in a day or two. We have changed the entry timing for heavy vehicles keeping in mind the school timing. People are suffering but we have no other alternative. Children are our priority. Hence adequate traffic manpower is deployed during school dismissal time.”
