Jamshedpur, July 3: The Jharkhand government’s decision to shift intermediate students to Plus Two schools has drawn sharp protest. On Wednesday, students supported by Janata Dal United (JDU) and Intermediate Students Struggle Committee locked the District Education Office gate in protest.
Led by JDU youth spokesperson Hemant Pathak, students said the government’s directive is unjust. “Changing institutions in the final six months of study is harmful academically and mentally,” said Pathak. He criticized the move as dictatorial and demanded that students be allowed to complete their education at their original colleges.
Pathak warned the state government of a statewide agitation if the decision is not revoked. He emphasized that the new National Education Policy allows upgradation of schools until 2026, questioning the urgency behind the transfer.
