We want two big performances in the final games: Owen Coyle
Jamshedpur, May 7: The stage is set for another electrifying chapter in one of Indian football’s fiercest rivalries as Jamshedpur FC prepare to host Bengaluru FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on May 9 at 7.30 pm. With the league entering its decisive phase, the high-stakes encounter is expected to draw a packed crowd and an intense atmosphere at the Furnace.
Often referred to as the “Steel Derby” of Indian football, clashes between Jamshedpur FC and Bengaluru FC have consistently delivered quality football and dramatic moments. Out of the eight meetings played in Jamshedpur, the Men of Steel have won three, Bengaluru FC have claimed two victories, while three matches ended in draws.

The last time Bengaluru visited the Furnace, Jamshedpur FC secured a memorable 2-1 victory with goals from Mohammed Uvais and Jordan Murray. The home side will look to repeat that performance as the title race tightens.
Speaking ahead of the crucial fixture, Jamshedpur FC head coach Owen Coyle urged his players to maintain their winning momentum after consecutive victories against Chennaiyin FC and FC Goa.
“I think it was important that we continue to show a good level of performance and look to win the games that are available to us,” Coyle said during the pre-match press conference. “We were outstanding against FC Goa and deserved the victory.”
The Scottish coach stressed that his team’s focus remains firmly on controlling their own results rather than worrying about other contenders.
“What we want to do is continue that momentum and that means another tough game against Bengaluru. It’s an opportunity for us,” he said. “We want to finish the season as strongly as possible and concentrate on what we can control.”
Jamshedpur FC currently sit second on the table with 21 points from 11 matches, level on points with leaders East Bengal, making Friday’s clash a must-win encounter in the race for the title. Bengaluru FC, placed seventh with 17 points from 11 games, are equally desperate to stay alive in the competition.
With experienced stars like Sunil Chhetri, Ryan Williams and Gurpreet Singh Sandhu expected to feature for Bengaluru FC, fans can expect another fiercely contested battle under the lights in Jamshedpur.
