Jamshedpur, June 25: A significant seminar commemorating World Vitiligo Day was held in Adityapur, organized by Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists, and Leprologists (IADVL) Jharkhand chapter. Esteemed doctors from Jamshedpur, as well as other cities such as Rourkela, Mumbai, Bokaro, and Dhanbad, participated in the event, shedding light on the various aspects of vitiligo.
During the seminar, Dr. Rajeev Thakur emphasized that vitiligo is not contagious and does not spread through contact with patients. He further clarified that the condition is not genetic, and effective treatment options are available. Additionally, there are no dietary restrictions imposed on individuals with vitiligo.
Dr. Rajesh from Mumbai and Dr. Devjit Kar from Rourkela highlighted that vitiligo can affect anyone at any age, emphasizing that approximately 1 percent of the global population suffers from this skin disorder.
In an appeal to the public, the doctors urged individuals with vitiligo to consult a reputable dermatologist at the earliest stage of the condition, as early intervention can lead to successful outcomes. Notable speakers at the seminar included Dr. Banashree Mazumdar, Dr. Pallavi, Dr. Kiran Kumre, Dr. Nisha Kumari Munda, Dr. R. Kumar, Dr. Devjit Kar, Dr. CS Sirka, Dr. Manas Ranjan, Dr. Rajiv Thakur, Dr. Neha Rani, and Dr. Rajesh Kumar. The seminar on World Vitiligo Day provided an invaluable platform for experts and participants to dispel myths surrounding the condition and share insights on effective treatment approaches. The event aimed to raise awareness about vitiligo while providing hope and guidance to those affected by the disease.
