Jamshedpur receives fresh stock of Covaxin doses

Jamshedpur, Aug 4: After a brief lull, vaccination in various urban and rural centres of East Singhbhum district have started as a lot of 4000 Covaxin shots have reached here in the city. Sources in the health department said that several centres in both urban and rural areas had to be  closed down due to short supply of vaccine doses. However, it has resumed with fresh supply.

 A health official informed that the beneficiaries are being vaccinated by ensuring compliance of all safety standards and Covid -19 protocol at the vaccination site. Vaccination of beneficiaries is being done on a first come first serve basis at Walk in Center. This will not only keep us safe but our relatives and the whole society will be safe from this pandemic.

Centres like Rabindra Bhawan in Sakchi and Rajendra Vidyalaya School provide vaccine doses through online slot booking while two other centres were meant for the age group above 45 years.

As many as 15 centres in various rural blocks of East Singhbhum provided the vaccine doses for 18 plus  while two centres were earmarked for vaccination to those 45 years and above. Two rural centres also offered vaccination through the walk -in mode.

District surveillance officer Sahir Pal said that the vaccination drive is expected to continue. ” We are expecting more doses of both the vaccines from Ranchi today,” he said.

Jamshedpur has seen a sharp decline in their total cases in the past nine weeks. East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 470257 tests per million in the district. The recovery rate in Jamshedpur is 97.92% while the mortality rate is 2.04 %.

East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Suraj Kumar had earlier directed officials to carry out large scale testing, treatment and surveillance in order to bring down active cases and new infections. Further instructions have been issued to individual district officials in a series of meetings to prepare for a possible third wave of infections.
