The administration of Dr SN Medical College in Jodhpur suspended 19 individuals on Sunday following allegations of ragging and misconduct against junior MBBS students.
The suspended individuals include a junior resident and 18 senior students.
Authorities penalised five individuals, including the junior resident, with a three-month suspension.
The remaining 14 students received a one-month suspension from the college authorities.
The suspension bars all penalised individuals from clinical postings, academic activities, and educational programmes.
The college administration prohibited them from entering hostels, libraries, and reading rooms.
The disciplinary action followed a complaint lodged through the University Grants Commission’s anti-ragging helpline.
The college’s anti-ragging committee conducted an inquiry and found the accused seniors guilty of serious misconduct.
First-year MBBS students alleged that senior students subjected them to intimidation, humiliation, and indecent behaviour.
The seniors reportedly imposed arbitrary rules, forcing juniors to remain clean-shaven and wear formal clothes.
The dispute originally erupted during a campus drive organised on the college premises on October 28.
The Principal’s office issued official suspension orders immediately after receiving the committee’s investigation report.
This action marks the second ragging complaint reported at the Jodhpur medical college within a month.
The college administration enforced these penalties to curb ragging and ensure a safe campus environment.
This incident follows recent disciplinary action at the Government Medical College in Barmer against 80 students.
