Jamshedpur, Feb 17: The Media Cup Cricket Tournament, organized by the Press Club of Jamshedpur, kicked off on Monday at Keenan Stadium with dominant victories for Hudco XI and Dalma XI.
In the opening match, Hudco XI secured a resounding 10-wicket win over Subarnarekha XI. Batting first, Subarnarekha XI posted 137 runs for four wickets in 15 overs. Randhir top-scored with 38 runs off 28 balls, while Anand Kumar contributed 28 runs in as many balls. Shubhdarshi was the standout bowler, claiming two wickets.
Chasing 138 to win, Hudco XI displayed an impeccable batting performance, reaching 138 runs in just 11 overs without losing a wicket. Shubhdarshi played a stellar knock of 62 runs off 31 balls, while Ashutosh added an unbeaten 61 runs off 33 balls. For his all-round performance, Shubhdarshi was named the Man of the Match.
In the second match, Dalma XI defeated Kharkai XI by 19 runs. Batting first, Dalma XI scored 146 runs for five wickets in 15 overs, powered by Prasenjit’s 51 runs off 33 balls and Madhusudan’s quickfire 31 runs off 14 balls. In response, Kharkai XI managed 127 runs for six wickets in 15 overs. Mohammad Wasim top-scored with 53 runs off 33 balls, while captain Mohammad Akbar contributed 23 runs off 24 balls.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, SSP Kishore Kaushal, Tata Steel UISL MD Ritu Raj Sinha, Tata Steel Corporate Communication Chief Sarvesh Kumar, and former India cricketer Saurabh Tiwary. Several dignitaries, including former Odisha Governor Raghubar Das, Potka MLA Sanjeev Sardar, Jugsalai MLA Mangal Kalindi, and former minister Banna Gupta, also attended the event.
