Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s 359th Prakash Utsav celebrated with devotion in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: The 359th birth anniversary of the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, was celebrated with great fervour, devotion and traditional splendour across Jamshedpur on Sunday.
 
A grand Nagar Kirtan was taken out, beginning from Refugee Colony Gurdwara Sahib and concluding at Sakchi Gurdwara Sahib in the evening.
The sacred procession commenced around 11 am after Ardas, with the Swaroop of Guru Granth Sahib Ji placed in the Palki Sahib.
Led by the Panj Pyare, the Nagar Kirtan passed through key areas of the city including Tinplate, Golmuri, Golmuri Church, RD Tata Roundabout, Howrah Bridge and Sakchi.
The procession was halted for brief intervals at Golmuri Church and RD Tata Roundabout to facilitate smooth movement and allow devotees to pay obeisance.
Thousands of devotees, wearing traditional basanti and blue turbans and scarves, lined the route to welcome the Palki Sahib with flowers and devotion.
The Palki Sahib reached Sakchi Gurdwara Sahib around 6 pm, where it was accorded a warm and reverential welcome amid floral showers.
The Nagar Kirtan featured horse riders, Gatka performers, school groups, Nishan Sahib, kirtan jathas, women’s satsang groups, the Central Gurdwara Management Committee, Jagruti Manch, and a dedicated sanitation and traffic management team. Members of Sikh Naujawan Sabha, including president Amrik Singh, general secretary Sukhwant Singh, chairman Damanpreet Singh, Ranjeet Singh, Chanchal Bhatia, Inderjeet Singh, Simran Bhatia, Satvinder Singh, Harshdeep Singh, Ravindra Singh Raja and Jujhar Singh, actively rendered services including traffic control.
Special diwans were organized in all city gurdwaras, while continuous langar was served to devotees and visitors throughout the day, reflecting the spirit of seva and equality preached by Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
Several prominent leaders attended the celebrations, including MP Bidyut Baran Mahato, East MLA Purnima Sahu, West MLA Saryu Roy, Tarun Sardar, brother of Potka MLA Sanjeev Sardar, former MLA Kunal Sarangi, BJP leader Amarpreet Singh Kale and Shiv Shankar Singh. The Gurdwara Committee honoured the dignitaries with ceremonial shawls.
Addressing the gathering, Bidyut Baran Mahato extended greetings to the Sikh community and citizens, highlighting Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s ideals of courage, sacrifice, unity and selfless service to the nation.
CGPC president Sardar Bhagwan Singh also conveyed warm wishes and urged people to follow Guru Sahib’s teachings of righteousness and collective harmony.
JMM leader pays obeisance at Mango Gurdwara on Guru Govind Singh Jayanti
 
Jamshedpur, January 4:On the auspicious occasion of the Prakash Parv of Sikh Panth’s tenth Guru, Guru Govind Singh, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Mahabir Murmu participated in religious programmes at the Mango Gurdwara in Jamshedpur on Sunday.
Mahabir Murmu paid obeisance before the Guru Granth Sahib and conveyed his heartfelt greetings and best wishes for peace, prosperity and well-being to the people of Jharkhand and Jamshedpur. As part of the celebrations, he flagged off schoolchildren participating in the Nagar Kirtan by showing the green flag and also distributed fruits, biscuits and chocolates among them.
Addressing the gathering, Mahabir Murmu said that the life of Guru Govind Singh was dedicated to courage, compassion and spiritual teachings. He highlighted that Guru Govind Singh strengthened the Sikh Panth and propagated the philosophy of being both a warrior and a saint. He emphasized that the Guru taught society to remain dynamic, to nurture a compassionate heart like a lotus, to stand firmly against injustice and at the same time uphold values of kindness and humanity.
Several members of the Sikh community and the Gurdwara Committee were present on the occasion, including Jasveer Singh, Heera Singh, Jaswant Singh (Jassu), Santok Singh, Mandeep Singh, Manoj Tanti, Durga Hansda and Karan Kalindi. The event was marked by devotion, harmony and active participation from people across communities.
