India’s nationwide trade is expected to cross Rs 1 lakh crore on Dhanteras on Friday. Festive sentiment remains strong despite elevated bullion prices across major domestic markets.
The Confederation of All India Traders projects massive economic activity. Sales of gold and silver alone are likely to exceed Rs 60,000 crore during this high-volume shopping day.
Consumers continue to make traditional purchases linked with Dhanteras. The day marks one of the most vital shopping periods in the entire Diwali festive season.
The All India Jewellers and Goldsmith Federation highlights resilient demand. Buyers are actively choosing lightweight jewellery along with traditional bullion investment products across all categories.
Traders report high demand for 14-carat and 18-carat lightweight gold ornaments. Customers are also purchasing silver coins, decorative items, and auspicious figurines like fish, tortoises, and elephants.
The traders’ body will release detailed nationwide estimates later today. Officials are currently assessing real-time sales trends and consumer response across dynamic markets.
This strong Dhanteras outlook aligns with earlier seasonal projections. CAIT expects total festive trade between Navratri and Diwali to cross Rs 7 lakh crore this year.
This overall performance reflects an estimated growth of 15 to 18 per cent over last year. Projections draw on inputs from trade associations across multiple Indian states.
Increased commercial activity in rural and semi-urban markets drives this upward trend. Changing consumer demand patterns further support the robust growth numbers across regional trade sectors.
Festive trade reached around Rs 6.05 lakh crore during the previous year. That total included Rs 5.40 lakh crore from goods and Rs 65,000 crore from services.
CAIT estimates that the services sector could generate up to Rs 1 lakh crore this season. Key drivers include transportation, logistics, hospitality, tourism, catering, and event management.
Rising consumer preference for locally manufactured products continues to boost sales nationwide. Strong public support for national initiatives like ‘Vocal for Local’, ‘Made in India’, and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ further fuels this massive commercial momentum across retail sectors.
