Gadkari lays foundation stone for India’s first double-decker elevated corridor in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, March 23: Known for his mission to transform the country’s road network and transportation system, Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari on Thursday laid the online foundation stone for the country’s first elevated double-decker corridor on the NH-33 along the steel city. The project worth Rs 1,876 crore is going to be the first such facility in the country.

Addressing a public meeting at Gopal Maidan in Bistupur, Gadkari said the proposed double-decker corridor will add a new chapter to the country’s glorious road network. The project has been to ease the vehicular communication between Kolkata-Ranchi route but will also augment the beauty of the steel city.

“ It will be a new milestone for Jharkhand. Jamshedpur MP, Bidyut Baran Mahto has raised the demand for a double-decker elevated corridor. But what is a matter of pride for Jamshedpur is this project will be the first of its kind in the country,” said Nitin Gadkari while addressing the gathering.

The proposed elevated double-decker corridor will be 10.2-kms long and will be set up between a stretch starting from Pardih Kali Mandir to Baliguma on the NH-33.

On the occasion, the Union minister laid the foundation stone online for nine other road projects across Kolhan comprising the twin districts of Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan involving over Rs 2,000 crores. Gadkari also inaugurated online the four-lane work of the Jamshedpur-Mahulia section for formally opening the stretch on the NH-33 for commuters.

On the occasion, several senior officers of the NHAI besides dignitaries from Tata Steel and district administration were present. Former chief minister, Raghubar Das, Jamshedpur MP, Bidyut Baran Mahto and Chaibasa MP, Geeta Koda who attended the function had also addressed the gathering.

Gadkari said in his address that Jharkhand is important in the development of the country. Contributing. Coal and iron are obtained from here. Roads are the most important aspect of development. If America is moving towards development today, then the main reason for this is the smooth road. Before the Modi Government, Jharkhand had only 200 km of road, but today Jharkhand has a total of 4000 km. The National Highway has been constructed. A total of Rs 2 lakh crore is being spent in this.

Gadkari said that Jharkhand has to be made a prosperous state. Along with this, the youth will also get employment. Only if this happens, India will be able to become powerful. He described Jamshedpur as a developed and beautiful city.

Jamshedpur to get better connectivity with metro cities

Jamshedpur: Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari has announced several projects. Starting from a 44-km stretch between Jamshedpur and Mahulta on National Highway-33, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 465 crore. This stretch will provide Delhi-Kolkata and Mumbai-Kolkata connectivity via Jamshedpur, significantly reducing travel time between the destinations. The project will also pave way for fresh investments. Apart from these, Gadkari laid foundation stone for a four-lane double-decker elevated corridor on NH-33, connecting Kali Mandi, Dimna Chowk and Baliguma in Jamshedpur, at an estimated cost of Rs 1,876 crore, thus reducing traffic burden on the Steel City. As part of a Bharatmala package, a four-lane access control road will be constructed on Raipur-Dhanbad Economic Corridor of NH-320.

Water, power, transport and communication key to progress: Gadkari

Quoting former US President John F Kennedy, the Union Transport Minister said, “The US President had said that the roads in America were better not because his country was rich. Instead, America is rich because its roads are better, he had said.”

Taking inspiration from the words of the former US President, roads are being built across the city, said Gadkari, adding further that Jharkhand has made considerable contribution in India’s progress. “Road construction in Jharkhand would promote industries here and give rise to employment generation. Water, power, transport and communication are must for development. All these factors are there in Jamshedpur,” said the Minister.

Elevated corridor to be built for next 50 years: Bidyut

Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato Thursday said the double decker elevated corridor in Jamshedpur will be built by keeping in mind the dense population of the next 50 years. He said the people of Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha would be greatly benefitted by the flyover. He said the four-lane elevated corrirdor would be built from Kali Mandir (Asanbani) to Baliguma via Dimna Chowk at the expense of Rs 1876 crore. He said Gadkari had won the hearts of the people of Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha by fulfilling their demands.

Geeta Koda demands two ROBs from Gadkari

Singhbhum MP Geeta Koda praised Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for his efforts to improve road network in Jharkhand and other parts of the country. She said she had met him after which he had given approval to six road over bridge (ROB) projects. She said two ROB projects were still pending. She demanded that the ROB projects of Jamda and Manoharpur should be approved. She also demanded that a heavy vehicle training centre be opened in Kolhan.

Wherever Gadkari Ji goes, development follows: Raghubar

BJP national vice president and former Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das Thursday said wherever Gadkari went, development followed. He said the Union Minister’s arrival in Jamshedpur was like a new dawn. He said the Union Ministry had constructed 440 km long highway in Jharkhand at the expense of Rs 14,400 crore despite the fact that there was no BJP government in the state. He said the double decker elevated corridor was a gift to the people of the city, courtesy MP Bidyut Baran Mahato.

Das said work on express way and flyover was on in Jharkhand. Till before 2014, roads were built at the rate of two km per day, but now 23.5 km roads are being built everyday, he said.

Das said the Union Minister fulfilled demands of all political parties. The demand of Singhbhum MP and Congress leader Geeta Koda had also been fulfilled, he pointed out.
