Jamshedpur, March 23: Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stone of what is being touted as the country’s longest double decker flyover in the city here on Thursday. The proposed flyover would connect Pardih to Baliguma. The project worth Rs 1,876 crore is going to be the first such facility in the country. The foundation stone was laid at a grand programme organized at Gopal Maidan in Bistupur, Jamshedpur.
In his address, Gadkari said 44 km road on the National Highway 33 was made with slag provided by Tata Steel. He appealed to the MD of Tata Steel to provide all the slag to the Ministry so that the NH may be improved.
“The Road Transport and Highway Ministry would utilize the slag to build roads in Jharkhand and Bihar. This would not only aid in waste disposal but would also create space and benefit the environment,” said the Minister.
