Dalma Butterfly Garden in Jamshedpur Inaugurated, Boost to Eco-Tourism and Environmental Conservation

Jamshedpur: A new attraction for tourists, the Butterfly Garden at Dalma, was inaugurated on Sunday, marking a significant step towards promoting eco-tourism and biodiversity conservation in Jharkhand. Alongside the garden, the Dalma Buru Haat was also formally launched, giving a fresh push to tourism-related activities in the region.

The twin projects were inaugurated by Abu Bakar Siddiqui, Secretary of the Department of Forest, Environment, and Climate Change, Jharkhand. From Monday, the Butterfly Garden has opened free of cost for tourists and the general public.

Spread across nearly one acre, similar in concept to the Tata Zoo, the Butterfly Garden is expected to play a vital role in environmental conservation, research, and academic study. Speaking on the occasion, Siddiqui said that the Jharkhand government is promoting eco-tourism, which is also generating direct and indirect employment opportunities for local communities.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) S.R. Natesh, Dalma DFO Saba Alam Ansari, and several senior forest department officials.

During the ceremony, officials released various species of butterflies into the garden, highlighting the importance of biodiversity conservation and ecological balance. Officials stated that the Butterfly Garden will be developed as an important centre for the conservation and scientific study of butterflies.

According to the forest department, the garden will not only serve as a major tourist attraction but will also be an educational hub for students, researchers, and nature enthusiasts, helping raise awareness about environmental protection.

Following the inauguration, officials also inspected shops set up at Dalma Buru Haat and reviewed arrangements, emphasizing the promotion of local products and cultural heritage. With the opening of the Butterfly Garden, expectations are high that Dalma will soon emerge as a key eco-tourism destination in Jharkhand.
