Jamshedpur: Thieves broke into the residence of Santosh Kumar Singh, a Tata Motors employee residing at Quarter Number K2-13, Cross Road-25 under the Telco police station jurisdiction, stealing jewellery worth lakhs and ₹25,000 in cash on Sunday.
The burglary took place between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Singh and his family had locked the house at 11:00 AM to visit his father at their old residence in Laxminagar, Telco. When they returned at 5:00 PM, they found the quarter ransacked. The burglars had broken the locker of the almirah to steal a gold mangalsutra, chains, rings, earrings, and other valuable ornaments.
Singh immediately notified the Telco police station and the Tata Motors Security Department. Upon receiving the information, police personnel and Tata Motors security officials arrived at the spot to conduct a preliminary investigation.
The daylight burglary has triggered widespread anger among the colony residents. Investigations reveal that the thieves gained entry into the house through the back entrance. Singh estimated the total value of the stolen jewellery to be around ₹5 lakh. Police have launched a hunt to apprehend the perpetrators.
