Jamshedpur: In a shocking incident, educational books meant for free distribution to students under Chakulia block were found to have been stolen and illegally sold to scrap dealers. Taking serious note of the matter, the East Singhbhum district administration has taken swift action and initiated a series of measures to prevent further tampering and fix accountability.

Following the incident, an FIR has been lodged at Chakulia police station, and the school buildings where the books were stored have been sealed immediately. Authorities confirmed that Baapi Das, the night guard posted at the Block Resource Center and allegedly involved in the theft, has been relieved from duty and is currently in police custody for questioning.

In addition, the Block Education Extension Officer has been directed to submit a detailed explanation within 24 hours for the gross negligence. The administration has also ordered a complete review of the book distribution system in all blocks of the district. Senior officials have been instructed to conduct investigations in their respective areas and submit reports at the earliest.

A district-level investigation committee has been formed and has been tasked with submitting a comprehensive report within 48 hours. Officials said that the administration, as per the instructions of the state government, is committed to protecting the educational rights of students and public property. Strict action will be taken against all those found guilty of this serious misconduct.
