Jamshedpur, Sept 29: Perhaps a microscopic dot in the national map, Basurda is definitely not a village to be overlooked when it comes to celebrating social and religious occasions with traditional joy and merrymaking. One testimony to this fact is the centenary celebration of Sri-Sri Sarvojanin Durga Puja Committee that was established in 1922 and has continued to march along with the traditional dhak beats to cover 100 years of Durgotsav and braced to move ahead with the celebratory times.
The final preparations for this year’s exclusive Durga Puja have been completed. Sushen Mahto, an office bearer of the Sri-Sri Durga Puja Committee of Basurda in Gamharia Block of Saraikela-Kharsawan district informed, “On this occasion of our 100 years of Durga Puja celebrations, many special events have been lined up. The excitement among devotees of Basurda and nearby villages and semi-urban areas has to be seen to be believed because, this year’s Puja is very special.”
President Lakhi Pada Mahto, Vice President KN Singhdeo, General Secretary Prafulla Mahto and other office bearers of the Durga Puja Committee informed that the tradition of Basurda Durga Puja would have additional colours to the festivities. Durgotsav will be celebrated at the pandal between October 1 and 5.
Basurda Sri-Sri Sarvojanin Durga Puja committee Conveners Kedarnath Singhdev and Tarun Kumar Singhdev informed that priests Dukhudhan Mahapatra and Harekrishna Mahapatra would conduct the prayers. The Durga Pratima has been made by Dilip Kumar Acharya of Tentoposhi.
