ACB seizes two lakh rupees from arrested Ratu Zone CO’s residence

Ranchi : In a significant crackdown on corruption, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has recovered a sum of two lakh rupees during a search at the residence of the arrested Chief Officer (CO) Pradeep Kumar of Ratu Zone, located at Indrapuri Road No. 1. The ACB operation unfolded on Thursday when the team apprehended CO Pradeep Kumar, along with employees Sunil Singh and Jafar Ansari, on charges of accepting a bribe amounting to Rs 25,000.

The alleged bribery case revolves around the mutation process for 39 decimal land. The ACB’s swift action was executed under the leadership of DSP Nitin Khandelwal, resulting in the arrest of CO Pradeep Kumar, light employee Sunil Kumar Singh, and broker Jafar Ansari. As part of the investigative process, the ACB also conducted a search at the residence of employee Sunil Kumar Singh in Harmu Colony.

It may be noted that during the hearing related to the freezing of a land in the Ratu area last year in July, the High Court made serious comments on CO Pradeep Kumar. The court went as far as questioning his integrity, asking if he had no shame, especially in light of having settled his children. In a significant move, the High Court suggested that the ACB should investigate the CO’s property.

The court’s dissatisfaction with the conduct of CO Pradeep Kumar is evident in its remarks, indicating a deep concern about potential misconduct and corruption. It also highlights the judiciary’s commitment to ensuring accountability and transparency in public offices.

Notably, during the hearing, the then Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Ranchi, Chhavi Ranjan, was present before the court, adding weight to the gravity of the situation.
