Jamshedpur: The Mango Olidih Outpost (OP) police conducted a raid near the Lakshman Nagar Chhath Ghat and arrested a youth with an illegal weapon. Authorities recovered one country-made pistol and three live cartridges from the possession of the arrested accused. The youth has been identified as Vishwajeet Singh alias Rocky, a resident of Subhash Colony on Dimna Road.
According to the police, the accused has a prior criminal record. Following the completion of the necessary legal formalities, he was remanded to judicial custody.
The police stated that a special team was formed on the instructions of the SSP, under the guidance of the City SP and the leadership of the Patamda DSP. This team cordoned off the area and apprehended the accused. During interrogation, the accused confessed to purchasing the pistol from Buxar, Bihar, for ₹30,000. He was planning to establish dominance in the area, extort money from local businessmen, and intimidate people. The City SP provided details regarding the operation.
