Gidla Gardens, Sanjoy Mukherjee shine at Rose Convention
Jamshedpur, December 30: The Horticultural Society Jamshedpur, in collaboration with Tata Steel UISL and Tata Steel, is hosting the 34th Annual Flower Show from December 29, 2024, to January 1, 2025, at Gopal Maidan, Bistupur. The event features an array of vibrant blooms, floral designs, and horticultural exhibits, drawing enthusiasts from across India.
The two-day 41st All-India Rose Convention, part of the event, concluded on December 30 with winners honored during a ceremony graced by D.B. Sundara Raman, Vice President (Raw Materials), Tata Steel.

The event, showcasing a dazzling variety of blooms, innovative floral designs, and horticultural expertise, attracted enthusiasts from across India.

In the 34th Annual Flower Show, Prerna Todi emerged as the overall champion in the Amateurs category, while XLRI claimed the title in the Institutions category. The “Queen of the Show” in Chrysanthemum for Institutions went to Vig English School, while Manju Bhamra won in the Amateurs category.

In the Best Display (Exhibits) Amateurs category, Raja secured the first spot, followed by S.B. Mandal. In the Institutions category, Tata Steel Noamundi, OMQ Division, claimed first place, with Tata Steel Meramandali in second and a special award for Tata Steel Foundation. Parmila Nursery won the Stall and Hanger Exhibit award.

At the 41st All-India Rose Convention, Gidla Gardens won the “King of the Show” award in the HT section, and Sanjoy Mukherjee claimed the “Queen of the Show” title in the same category. The “Prince of the Show” in Floribunda went to Nitai Chanda Das, while Ashish More won “Princess of the Show” in the Miniature class. Srinika Maity secured the “Most Fragrant Rose” award in the Somasila class.

Meanwhile, the flower show featured 50 amateur competitors and 25 institutes, who participated in eight diverse categories: Chrysanthemums, Dahlias, Potted Plants, Bonsai, Pot Fruits and Vegetables, Seasonals, Cut Flowers, and Medicinal Plants. The event included 169 sections and also hosted a sit-and-draw competition with an overwhelming participation of 500 participants.

The program commenced with a Technical Workshop attended by 120 students and visitors. This session focused on “Traditional Methods of Rose Cultivation Under Soilless Conditions,” offering innovative insights into sustainable gardening practices.

The event not only displayed exquisite floral arrangements and rare varieties of roses but also offered a competitive platform for gardeners and horticulturists to showcase their skills.

Workshops and interactive sessions during the event highlighted modern gardening techniques and sustainability.

The Horticultural Society Jamshedpur continues to promote nature’s beauty and horticultural innovation, marking another remarkable milestone in its history through this successful event.
