Jamshedpur, June 7: Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited launched Prakriti Sneh, a premium organic city compost brand, as part of its Sustainability Month initiative themed “Thinking is Good. Doing is Better.” The programme aims to convert biodegradable municipal waste into nutrient-rich compost, promoting a circular economy and reducing landfill burden in the city.
The product was officially launched at Beldih Club by D. B. Sundara Ramam, Vice President (Corporate Services), Tata Steel, in the presence of Tata Steel UISL Managing Director Atul Kumar Bhatnagar, Sumita Nupur, media representatives, green ambassadors, and other dignitaries.

Jamshedpur produces nearly 300 tonnes of municipal solid waste daily. Through scientific composting processes, the biodegradable fraction is being converted into high-quality organic manure, which can be used to improve soil fertility and support urban gardening and landscaping initiatives.
Speaking on the occasion, Sundara Ramam stressed the importance of sustainable waste management and active citizen participation in building greener cities. Atul Kumar Bhatnagar reaffirmed Tata Steel UISL’s commitment to environmental stewardship and circular economy practices.

To encourage usage, Prakriti Sneh has been introduced at a promotional price of Rs 10 per kg, against an MRP of Rs 20 per kg. The compost is currently available at Tata Steel UISL depots in Northern Town, Ramdas Bhatta, Baridih, Kasidih, and Burmamines, with home delivery services available within 48 hours via 0657-6646000. The product will also soon be available on BigBasket.

The event concluded with a collective green pledge: “Mera shehar, mera abhimaan; harit Jamshedpur, hamari pehchaan.”
