Jamshedpur, Feb 16: A workshop on the future global green hydrogen economy was recently organized at Singhbhum Chamber in collaboration with Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation. Industry experts delivered lectures on industrial development, the impact of green hydrogen energy on everyday life, and provided detailed insights through presentations on the initiatives by the Central Government and Jharkhand Government. Chamber Vice President Puneet Kanwatia shared this information.
During the inaugural address, President Vijay Anand Moonka highlighted the significance of green hydrogen energy in contemporary times, emphasizing its usefulness. He noted that this workshop was possibly the first of its kind organized in the Chamber building.
President Moonka mentioned the MOU signed on August 25, 2023, between the Industries Department of the Government of Jharkhand and TGESPL, a joint venture of Tata Motors and Tata Cummins, for establishing the country’s first hydrogen fuel plant in Jamshedpur. The Chamber representatives were present and participated in the signing.
Rajiv Ralhan, Partner and Leader of Clean Energy at Price Water House Coopers India, provided a comprehensive overview of green hydrogen energy’s importance in the future during the workshop. Dr. Sachin Kumar, Director of Industry Building and Cooling at Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, discussed the strategic partnership of Jharkhand and the initiation of the Hydrogen Economy Program in the state.
Ajit Kothari, Chief of Sustainability and Decarbonization Project at Tata Steel, shared insights into Tata Steel’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions through the utilization of green hydrogen in steel production. Naveen Srivastava, General Manager of Bokaro Steel Plant, also shared experiences in this regard.
Manish Soni, Director at Price Water House Coopers India, provided a detailed explanation of the various activities under the Hydrogen Economy Programme through a power presentation.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks from Secretary Industries Vinod Sharma. Various Chamber representatives and industry professionals attended the event, exploring the potential of green hydrogen in shaping the region’s economic and industrial landscape.
