Jamshedpur Police have intensified their crackdown on a network supplying fraudulent SIM cards to local cybercriminals.
Investigators identified nine vendors allegedly distributing unverified cards.
Key Suspect Arrested in Burmamines
The Cyber Police Station arrested SIM card seller Raunak Kumar from Burmamines.
Kumar allegedly provided SIM cards to fraudsters at low prices without required documentation or mandatory verification.
Fraudulent Cards Impede Investigations
Unscrupulous vendors acquired SIM cards using forged customer identities or skipped verification.
They sold these cards to criminals at inflated prices.
Fraudsters used the numbers to target victims nationwide. Fake documents make tracing the actual users difficult for police.
Major Seizure Triggers Action
The police recently raided a cyber-fraud hideout on Omanagar Road in Birsanagar.
Officers recovered 67 SIM cards and arrested five suspects.
Technicians are currently analyzing the seized SIM cards to trace linked bank accounts, cybercrimes, and victims.
Raids Expand Citywide
Interrogation of the arrested vendor yielded crucial leads.
Cyber Police teams are conducting raids across Jamshedpur based on technical inputs and suspect confessions.
Authorities confirm ongoing efforts to identify and arrest all remaining accomplices.
