VISION 2018 � A bouquet of expressions in a creative vase

Ghatshila: VISION, the annual short film festival of Ghatsila has completed 6 years. An initiative of Ghatshila based Creative Art Division and Kolkata�s Take5 Communications, the festival, which began in 2013, gained popularity over the years and became a eagerly-looked-forward-to annual event of the hamlet town.

VISION 2018 happened on December 08 and 09 at The Little Angels School, Ghatshila. The first day was for school students only and the second day was for select guests. Five films were screened on the first day followed by an interactive session with the students from leading schools of Ghatshila. Ten films were screened on the second day.

This year the films were in Hindi, English and Bengali languages. there were a couple of silent films as well. Films ranged between 3 and 20 minutes in duration and were from Mumbai, Kolkata, Jamshedpur and Dhanbad. There was also a film made in Ghatshila. Women Literacy, Clean India, Patriotism, Water Conservation and Road Safety were some of the issues showcased in the films this year.

Debraj Mukherjee (Chief, Creative Art Division) and Tathagata Bhattacherjee (Chief, Take 5 Communications) believe that with VISION, there has been a cultural progress in Ghatshila and this film festival would pave the path for many aspiring film makers to take up film making professionally.

The exhilaration of watching a blend of creativity with a mixture of films by professional and amateur directors gave birth to a hope that soon the upcoming filmmakers would make their presence felt in the tinsel towns. This feeling became more intense when the creations of the amateurs tackled bold themes in a lucid manner. Technical defects were minimal as one understands the limitations of infrastructure. On the whole, the presentations were of almost peak quality. With curtains on VISION � 2018, the passions for the 2019 version is being anticipated eagerly with its next bouquet of celluloid creations.
