Ranchi /Jamshedpur, Feb 25 : In a fresh blow to household budgets ahead of Holi festival, Sudha Dairy has raised the prices of its milk products effective today.
The cooperative cited rising costs of raw materials, packaging and transportation as the primary reasons behind the price adjustment.
Under the revised tariff, most variants of Sudha milk have become up to Rs 2 more expensive per litre.
For instance, the price of a 1-litre packet of Sudha Healthy milk has increased from Rs 53 to Rs 55, while the 500 ml pack is now priced at Rs 28. Similarly, Sudha Shakti milk now costs Rs 61 per litre, up from vlRs 60, and the 500ml pack is Rs 31.
The premium Gold variant has also seen an increase from Rs 65 to Rs 67 per litre.
Larger packs, such as the 6-litre packs of Sudha Healthy and Shakti, have also been adjusted upward.
The price revision was made public by the dairy on Wednesday morning, just days before one of the country’s busiest festive periods for dairy consumption.
Sudha officials explained that the persistently higher input costs left little choice but to revise retail prices, a move that is likely to affect families during the festival week.
Economists and consumer groups note that such price adjustments in essential commodities often reflect broader inflationary trends impacting supply chains across the country, although they also add pressure on routine household expenses ahead of major festivals. ( W-pm)
