Railway IG suspends two SIs over Tatanagar case

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur, Feb 25 : In a decisive move reinforcing a zero-tolerance stance against corruption and negligence, Railways Director General in Jharkhand Anil Palta has ordered the immediate suspension of two police officers for allegedly manipulating a robbery case near Tatanagar Railway Station.
The action follows revelations that Sub-Inspectors Jitram Oraon and Kamlesh Ram deliberately diluted a robbery incident by converting it into a minor assault case, allegedly to shield the accused from stringent legal consequences.
During a review of pending investigations and case progress, DG Palta took cognisance of the matter.
A detailed scrutiny reportedly revealed that the officers tampered with relevant sections of law, failed to conduct a proper investigation, and distorted the case diary to weaken the prosecution’s case.
Taking serious note of the misconduct, the Rail DG ordered their immediate suspension, sending a strong message against any attempt to compromise the integrity of criminal investigations within the police department.
