Jamshedpur: Several places, including Jamshedpur, experienced unseasonal showers today, a consequence of a western disturbance passing through the northern parts of the country. The disturbance led to a trough running from the cyclonic circulation over Bangladesh to north Odisha across Gangetic West Bengal at 0.9 km above mean sea level.
The impact of the Western disturbance was felt in central, northeastern, and southern Jharkhand, resulting in abrupt changes in weather conditions and an unexpected rise in minimum temperatures across the region.
In Ranchi, the capital city, the minimum temperature today was recorded at 14.5 degrees Celsius, marking a notable increase. Jamshedpur, experiencing a similar weather shift, saw a minimum temperature rise to 17 degrees Celsius. Daltonganj, the Palamu headquarters, recorded a minimum temperature of 12.2 degrees Celsius, while Bokaro witnessed a minimum temperature of 13.5 degrees Celsius.
Chaibasa, located in the neighboring West Singhbhum district, and several other places in southern Jharkhand reported minimum temperatures exceeding 15 degrees Celsius, indicating a significant departure from the usual winter conditions.
The meteorological experts at the Ranchi Meteorological Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted intermittent light to moderate showers in various parts of Jharkhand throughout the day. The unseasonal rains were attributed to the western disturbance’s influence on the region.
Meteorological officials, however, assured that the weather conditions are expected to improve starting tomorrow, leading to a subsequent drop in minimum temperatures. The fluctuating weather pattern is anticipated to stabilize, offering relief to residents experiencing the unusual climatic conditions.
Looking ahead, a fresh Western Disturbance is anticipated to impact northwest India from February 3, as stated by a Meteorological Department official. The weather experts are closely monitoring these developments to provide timely updates and ensure public awareness regarding any further alterations in weather patterns.
